Hard on the heels of last week’s story about the poo-powered street lamp comes one about a ship made from discarded plastics. All the stuff that’s already out there needs to be put to good use, but the real message is that you and I need to reduce or eliminate our use of single trip plastics.

The ship sounds an excellent idea, especially if we all end up having to live at sea – which is what happens in one of my novels!.

As awareness-raising ideas, this is a good one. Maybe they made the boat a bit too nice looking…?
I had an idea how to create more poo-powered street lighting. Put a little bowl and converter over the lamp and have pigeons and gulls poo in that instead of on cars. My only problem is, how to communicate that idea to the birds, huh? 🙂

I guess if you have some strategically positioned pigeon food that might work!

There you go, new job, and a return to the old lamplighter: every morning someone climbs up a light post and feeds the birds… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gW4TQ08YVU

Love this story. And such a cool idea. Things have improved, but we do need to do so much more to protect our environment.

What a cool idea! We’ve adjusted our own habits after sailing past so much trash or having it float by in the marina.

Thanks for commenting. I’ve since heard of another project in Amsterdam where they collect plastic from the canals, use ti to build boats, then use the boats to collect more plastic. They are now making furniture from the plastic they collect. It sees there is a great opportunity here for social entrepreneurs. https://lifeandsoulmagazine.com/2019/02/10/plastic-whale-create-whale-inspired-circular-office-furniture-from-plastic-fished-from-amsterdam-canals/
