I don’t know what became of this – I just found it in ‘Drafts’. I thought I’d published it on Sunday. Anyway, here it is, a few days late!

We finally had some April showers in the last couple of days of the month – and the first of May! As a result the soil is nice and damp. Ideal for planting out the beans against their poles:

Meanwhile the lilac is opening out and gooseberries are ripening.

Corilopsis still dominates the North facing South wall. The bees are still busy collecting nectar from the flowers. You can also hear them buzzing in the cotoneaster against the West facing East boundary.

Beneath it, more columbines and a red flower the name of which escapes me. It has been here for several years now and keeps flowering throughout the summer. If you recognise it, let me know what it is.
